:)p Hi, am usually on the rabbit rehome page but also have 6 piggies. I have a lovely little boy who has always lived on his own and would like to know if it's possible to find neutered females very often in rescues. I'd rather get an already neutered female if there is one not too far from me (I'm in Essex) rather than get Herbie castrated or a female neutered.

Any help will be much appreciated. :)

Do you really need neutered sows? It is quite a big operation; bigger than for a boy! It might be easier if you had your boar neutered.

One place I know that has a policy of neutering sows as well is Rabbit&Guinea Pig Welfare in Rugby, but most rescues don't bother.

Hi - I just thought if there was a lonely, already neutered sow out there somewhere it would be a good idea. However, as I thought, this is probably very unlikely. Little Herbie may have to say 'bye bye' to a couple of things then! :{

Already neutered boars are hard enough to get,never mind a sow....it is alot easier to get your boar neutered.Please make sure that the vet you choose has knowlegde in the neutering guinea pigs...Good luck

Have you considered giving Herbie a young male companion? Males with an age difference seem to work quite well; better than same age boys. As long as you can keep them separate from girls, that is.
