ive just bought on saturday 2 male 3 month old piggies would you all advise that i have my boys neutered what are the risks and the benefits also how old do they need to be ive just been in touch with a vet and it will cost me £120 for both to be neutered i found this a bit steep concidering there only small animals

You do not need to have your boys neutered unless you are planning to seperate them both and put each one with a female. Neutering a boy DOES NOT change the behaviour of the guinea pig

The price is a bit steep and not necessary.

Neutering takes only away the ability to make babies, but does not interfere with the hormones. You may think about it again as an option, but only in case your boys have a permanent fallout during puberty and you may wish to pair each with a female.

You will also want to find an experienced vet to do the operation, as that can cut down a lot on the risks and problems afterwards; ask your local reputable rescue for the most piggy savvy vet in your region. http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/

Lots of space(minimum 2x4 ft, ideally 2x5 ft and over) and having everything in twos is one of the keys for a happy pair of boars - hides, bowls, hay, water bottles...
