Hi everyone,
Has anyone had their Guineapig neutered recently who can tell me the cost they paid? We have been quoted £120 at one vet and £38 at another, which one sound about right? He's 2yrs old

I had Micah neutered last year. It cost me about £60 if I remember right.
All went well and he now lives happily with his 3 wives.
Hope everything goes well for your boy too.

Ours was £60 about a year and a half ago, the difference in price may be that some vets get subsidised for all neutering ops to prevent an explosion of unwanted baby pets, others may not get the subsidy (might depend on postcode or opting into some scheme, no idea- ours was subsidised at £60).

I think my boar's neutering was also about £60-70 eighteen months ago. I paid a little extra for some laser treatment to promote healing in addition to the 'normal' stuff. With the cheaper quotes you get particularly, you need to check that things such as medicines to give at home (an anti-inflammatory and possibly also an antibiotic) and a post-op check are included. Possibly more important than price though is the operating vet's experience and record in neutering - how many have they done, and how many have they had where there were complications etc?

i pay £120 for my neuters.the vet is an exotic vet.he has neutered 15 of my piggies.ive never had any complications. The price includes a overnight stay.medicines, post op check. This vet is very experienced .There is also a hospital for guinea pigs specifically, and exotic vet nurses that work throughout the night to give prompt care if needed.i prefere peace of mind. 🙂

That sounds great! Dont suppose its anywhere near Cardiff? :D

Thank you all for replying. I think we'll be going for the more expensive quote as that includes painkillers and lots of post op appointments and its an exotic vet with lots of gp experience. Wednesday is the day!
