Scrappy

Hi All!

Just wondering if any one knows if there comes a point when neutering becomes too risky? Scrappy, who I have had for nearly 6 weeks now has always lived alone and the more i get to know him the more I realise a companion is all he needs to make him completely happy :) We have been watching his behaviour closely to see if he might be ok on his own as he is 3 and a half and the previous owner never introduced him to other piggies! but it is very obvious he needs a friend to snuggle up to when we're not home!

We would of liked to get him a female friend of similar age but as he has not been neutered and we do not want babies ") were wondering if it is even worth considering that option for Scrappy due to his age?

Safer all round, I am thinking, if we go for a very young boar?

Would really appreciate anyones thoughts or experiences :{:)

Hi

Scrappy sounds lovely! Any operation carries a risk, so I would try him with a baby boar first (as young as possible) - if you take him to your local rescue they might be able to help pair him up with a suitable buddy? An older boar could work but can be a bit more tricky. Where abouts are you?

You could try putting a 'wanted' thread on the 'Rescues wanted' bit, put your area in the title, or try looking on Guinea Pig rehome. I think sue1974 is on the herts / beds border?
