Hey

Do you routinely neuter piggies? Are boars more often neutered than sows? Is there any major health problems with leaving them entire?

Hope not, I don't intend to snip my boys unless I absolutely have to. I don't think it's worth the risk of anaesthetic on a small animal...

Neutering is not routinely done with boars, it is usually just to stop them becoming fathers and being able to live with . As Bailey says it is not done for any behavioural issues, as it makes no difference. Sows are never done routinely, only for health problems. x

I have neutered two of my boys and will shortly be having my third done. However this is only as Dodge came to us alone and we wanted to get him a lady friend, and Bumble and JoJo started fighting so got split up...so Bumble was done to get him a gf...and now JoJo has settled down it's his turn!

It was never something I set out to do, but I know male-female pairings are most of the time the most stable, and didn't want any of the boys left alone, and I have a VERY piggy savvy vet. If I only kept boys though and they never showed signs of not getting on, there would be no need to neuter them.
