I've just got him out before his daily check before bed and noticed he feels terribly light in weight and he seemed really quiet and flat.

I've given him some extra fluids but I know he's been eating grass today and drinking (he's been in a shaded run).

Any ideas? He took the water quite happily and he's had some critical care. But I'm sure something's up!

Straight to the vet first thing I think.

You know your piggy best so if he seems not right it is always good to take him for a check up.

Hi!

If he's been outside in the heat of the day in the last few days, it's simply been too hot and he is suffering from heat stroke. Piggies have died today, even in the shade! :(

Please have him vet checked ASAP, start syringe feeding fibre to keep the guts going (risk of GI stasis) and PLEASE keep him indoors in as cool surroundings as you can!

I agree, he needs to be seen ASAP. Sending healing vibes x

So it turns out, Neville had flystrike.

I feel absolutely terrible I didn't spot it earlier, it wasn't until the vet started squeezing around his anus, that around 5 tiny live sized maggots came out.

He's got a real cocktail of antibiotics and he's home now, he's enjoying plenty of critical care and a good rest.

Oh dear, poor boy! Fingers VERY firmly crossed!

Oh dear poor Neville! I really hope you caught it in time. As he has antibiotics, did the vet suggest giving a probiotic too?
