Hi!
Last week me and my boyfriend went to this pet centre to get some bits for our two hamsters (separate cages) and we saw this guinea pig in this tiny cage with nothing in it except for a food bowl. The poor baby was froze in the corner shivering and wouldn’t move he was so scared.
We asked the pet shop owner why he was alone and he said because his other siblings are females. Of course we couldn’t leave him there so we brought him home with us.
He is currently 10 weeks old and we want to get another as we know they shouldn’t live alone. However we are not sure whether to get another boy or get another girl and have him neutered.
Or do we just leave him to live alone? We both work from home and have the cage open throughout the day but we are aware they need to socialise with other piggies
Any advise?

Well done for taking him on - it sounds like he has really been lucky to have found you.

I would suggest contacting a rescue and asking them to help you find the perfect partner for him.
There is a rescue locator in the green bar at the top of the page.

Hello and Welcome
Well done you for taking the little chap on 😊
I can imagine how difficult it was to leave him, he must have felt so dejected and lonely x
Yes boar bonding is the best thing for him at a rescue so he can choose a companion he likes and someone who likes him too x
We have a wealth of info on here, here is a link to new owners guide Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides but please ask away any questions you may have
