Hello All

So i'm new to the forum so though i would say hi! HI! :)

My names Mark and i currently have two male skinny pigs. Percy and Mr pigglewiggle!
I have owned guinea pigs for years of the furry variety and recently saw these two looking for a new home so i did my research and decided that they looked like fun!

They are two of the best pigs i have ever owned, they seem to be more friendlier then normal pigs. My question is for you guys is at the moment they have a typical in door cage, its a bit small and boring. It dose the job, food water, hay, shelter and most importantly warmth, but I'm looking for ideas to give them more space for when I'm not around. I have seen the c & c caging people are using, is this any good, and if so where is the best place to get some from and what do you use as a base.

I need something easy to clean, they go to the toilet a lot more then normal pigs as they eat loads keeping warm, so in turn poo more! so cleanliness is key.

Also substrate on the flooring any ideas of what i can use, i started with wood chipping but this just got disgusting, very quick. so have moved on to just using newspaper as i can remove it easily and its a cheap solution!

Any advice would be great :)

I use a ground sheet then incontinence pads then fleece with towels and fleece at both ends where they wee now and then.Have litter trays that they do most wees. The cage has a fleece pegged over the litter trays as they like to wee in the dark. There is finacard ,which I use ,auboise and Fitch seem very popular. As I don't use correx and have trouble with my joints I don't use loose bedding other than in litter trays. There is a thread for c&c cages.I use the plastic coated grids as found them cheaper and put them together with cable ties.

Thanks so am i correct in thinking if i get some correx board for the base, then some c & c caging this will make a waterproof sturdy housing? also how would i add the 2nd level just the same way? then add some vet bed as flooring, would placing something like a puppy pad underneath be a good idea? Also will prob need to have a top so would i just use more c & c caging for that?

I use towels under my vetbed. It needs to be changed every three days and washed at 60%. My c and c is one level. You do not have to have levels. If you need a lid you just use more grids.
