Sukie had babies this morning, two black and one pink eyed white x)

Unfortunately Sukie now has a bald patch, that I posted about in the health section, but hopefully will be sorted out soon.

Here are some photos :) (By the way, They were sitting in their house and I moved it to check them, so there are quite a few poops to the left, but that's just where the house was cos they always poo in the corner of the house rolleyes they've clean hay now though! Thought I would say though, cos it looks quite dirty. But as you know, you can't have photos of guinea pigs without a few poops!)

Aww, so cute. Could you pop one in the post to me please? (I have had a few sows lose hair during/shortly after pregnancy. It was hormonal with them, and soon grew back, it could be this.) xx

Thanks guys :) I love them so much! Especially the PEW :)

I'm hoping it's just hormonal, my friend said her sow had a similar thing after giving birth too. Poor Sukie though.

I rubbed camrosa ointment on, which I tend to put on most things, and the fur was growing back again within days. I have used it on pregnant sows and bubs. (Without seeing your pig though I don't know if this would be appropriate.) x

Thanks guys :)

After talking to a few people, I think it is just hormonal, not mites, so will keep a close eye on it for a couple of days and hope it heals soon. :) Otherwise it'll be off to the vets for poor Sukie.

I just love these babies so much x)

OOoooo, they're so cute! I love the shiny black babies!

How long do they nurse before they move on to solid food?

Yeah I love black guinea pigs too, so shiny and sleek. :)

They start eating solid food after a few hours or so, but they'll keep nursing from the mum too. I'll seperate any males at 3 weeks cos they can impregnate the otehrs then rolleyes but I'll keep the females with their mum til eight weeks. :) I've never had any female baby pigs before so I don't know if they'll keep nursing all that time, or if they'll start nursing less and less.

Totally adorable!
(I would guess the bald patch is hormonal as often happens to sows during gestation/after delivery - fingers crossed she'll be OK)

Unfortunately the white baby pig died during the night at some point :( I was so upset about it, and so disappointed. :0 I was thinking of keeping that one, but at least the others seem fine which is great

Oh noo :(:( That's so sad. RIP baby piggie:rose xx You were gorgeous!x)

Congratulations to the mum on the delivery. Hope her bum will be fine soon - nothing big. x

Thanks guys, it's so sad that the baby never got a chance at life, but the others are doing really great, following their mum around the cage squeaking :) They have a 6' X 3' (nearly) cage so they have lots of space to explore for such tiny pigs. :)

Mum's bum is getting better, the redness has gone away. :) So I'm sure she'll be better soon. She's very happy anyway, and doesn't mind me watching her while she feeds the babies or anything. And she's being extra spoiled because of the babies so she's very happy :)

The babies have been following the other females a bit too, the two young ones (Libby and Edie) seem a bit confused, but Lola likes them.

how did i miss this thread?

They are so beautiful, I'm soooo jealous lol congratulations, hope they carry on doing well. x)x)

rip babypig, run free at baby rainbow bridge :(

I took this cute photo yesterday, RIP baby pig.

I just quickly checked the sex of the babies, and am not sure at all cos I just glanced, but maybe two boys. I could be completely wrong though! :))

Mini pigs are not easy to sex, especially black ones with black bits! You've plenty of time yet though. xx

Oh I know it's hard! But that was just from a quick glance so didn't want to stress them. I'll check properly as the time goes by, before they're three weeks. :)

Thank you for the info, CiaraPatricia. :rose . I had no idea that they can eat solid food so soon!

I am very sorry to hear about the little PEW. That must be heartbreaking for you. Poor sweet baby. RIP baby piggy.

Some people from another site thought there's a chance the white baby could have been a lethal. :( Which would make sense if Sukie was a "hidden roan", since the pig that I suspect was the father was roan (Moxie was roan, but not sure which one was the father when they broke into the girls' cage). I guess it could have been worse and they could all have been lethals :( At least it definitely won't happen again.
