Our bathing guide is sadly very much out of date, and that is where you come in!

Seeing how much of my own (unpaid) free time I am spending on an answering your illness, pregnancy and bonding/behaviour threads as quickly as possible and helping other people with their problems and worries, I would be grateful if one of you would take the time to write a new guide with appropriate bathing pictures and the new recommendations re. when it is necessary to bathe, how to bathe safely, bum baths and hygiene around the genitals and how to clean the grease gland with the he gentler products now more commonly available etc.

A new bathing guide has been on my list for a good while, but I simply do not have the time to do it AND try to stay on top with a lively forum.

Thank you!

I really wish I hadn’t have written this thread now :( I was merely asking about Ellen’s grease gland and the best way of cleaning it and whether it could be due to a medical condition but some people now seem to think that the old threads were giving out the wrong advise including myself. From looking at past threads about grease glands, I’ve noticed that quite a few people recommend the wrong treatment for bathing grease glands. I didn’t mean to upset anyone. At least Ellen’s grease gland is now clean from the spot of olive oil and I’ve ordered the coconut oil thanks to Wiebke and Posyrose :) I don’t mind writing a new thread

Sorry, I wrote this for the wrong thread. I originally wrote it for the thread that I started Reasons for overactive grease gland?

But I don’t mind writing a new bathing guide. It may take a few days though :)

It's not personal @Claire W - but we are getting loads of bathing questions just recently (including buddy bathing) and times change and practices and guides do go out of date. The staff team is really stretched at the moment so we don't have the time to re-write out of date guides, and some additional help is welcome ;)

I would be very grateful if you could find the time to take new appropriate bathing pictures and update the guide.
It's been sitting on my 'to do' list for too long anyway.

Don't feel bad; it's not your fault! But it is a good opportunity to get this job out of the way!

But there are things that forum members can do to help me stay on top of what is a lot of time consuming work. The guide doesn't need special knowledge or experience, just taking the time and ideally two people (one for the bathing and one to take pictures), plus making sure that the recommendations are in line with the rest of our newer guides.

Our knowledge is changing and advancing has been changing so much with new products available and the exchange of experiences speeding up through the increased use of media in the last few years that it is tough to stay on top of it all.

You are welcome to message me for particulars.

I'd be happy to rewrite some old guides if needed but not baths and bums as I have literally 1 bath and no bum cleaning experience... I could do some veterinary or physiology or behaviour stuff though, that is sort of my day job, even if not usually with piggies!

If I've got any pictures laying about that might help I'm more than happy for them to be used, if not I can try to take some. Brambles due a bath, Leonard's grease gland is due a clean and he regularly needs smegma build ups removed from his penis, all of which I can try to get pictures of if needed for any new guides.

Pictures or bathing videos that can be uploaded on a public setting would be great.
