I haven't been on for a while but I'm really hoping for some advice please.
It's been a tough few months for us. I lost my dad in January to a very quick illness and then very shortly afterwards our beautiful Beatrix went to rainbow bridge to be with her sister Leeloo. Despite many vet investigations she continued to go downhill and sadly we had to have her PTS last month.
Her cage mate Dotty had been alone since and although she was coping ok she was definitely lonely & needed a new friend. Our local rescue had a neutered boar & after his quarantine period we collected him today. We introduced them on the kitchen floor with carrot and they seemed to click instantly. But since we put them in the cleaned out cage together they've been bickering all day. He's tried relentlessly to mount her (which I know is normal) but she's having none of it & it seems to really irritate her. She's chased him out of the sleeping area and this evening I witnessed an actual mini fight. They go quiet for a bit then the whining, teeth chattering and chasing starts again.
Should I be worried, or just give it time? Thanks heaps x

Please just give them time and take out all hideys, especially those with just one exit, so Dotty won't feel cornered with no escape!

Boars tend to go overboard when they meet a sow for the first time in their life, but Dotty is nowhere near her season and therefore not interested.

Acceptance has happened. At the moment, they are working though the hormones and the dominance. They will be best of friends once this phase is over! Just remove any crannies and corners where problems can ignite! With cross gender pairs you can separate overnight and restart on neutral ground again next morning if things are still a bit tense, but you need to give your piggies plenty of time to work on their relationship during the day. Wait with adding the normal hideys until the chasing/mounting has stopped.

Thanks @Wiebke i knew you would have some sound advice!
We have taken out the log tunnel and other hideys, which really seems to help. He's so keen and I do think she's teasing him sometimes, but the poor lad takes it too far and at times has ended up with a wet face!

He'll learn to behave! You can always spot a "husboar" by the fact that he is prepared to jump back at any moment if he tries (or thinks better of) to do some bum sniffing... :D

just need time! ive just gone through same thing. they just need to sort out who is going to be boss.
