New Boar

right, we have adopted a young boar to pair with one of our other piggies. We had a boar trio before after one piggie sadly passed away which ended up in us binding the single male with the other male pair and they got on fine. Only recently though, we have noticed some weird behaviour towards the youngest piggie in the trio so we have decided to get him a new friend and keep them as two pairs again, We have adopted him from a rescue and they are the same age. I have bonded males before but has anyone got any tips on how I can do this as efficiently as possible?

Please double check the gender before intros. Is the rescue you have got your boy from conducting a mandatory quarantine and vet check for their piggies? In this country, anybody can still call them themselves a 'rescue' (or a breeder at that) without licensing or any control, and results can be accordingly.

There is some excellent advice in the forums about bonding. With boars you really need to play by the rules, be prepared for your heart to be in your mouth, and realise if they like each other they like each other, and if they don't, they don't. Space is a huge issue. I've a trio of boars as well, and I genuinely think the only reason I'm still getting away with it is because their cage is huge and there's space to get away from each other.
