We looked out of the window into the field across from the house this morning...and spotted 4 baby lambs amongst the fat pregnant ewes! Seems like spring is on its way!

It's blowing a hooley and tipping down with rain today - makes me want to bring the poor wee mites in for a warm....!

Whoops- just realised that I've posted in the wrong place. Could a mod please move this to chit-chat. Sorry!

Ahh lovely! I saw some in the Daily Mail yesterday and thought it was a tad early but I dunno..I am no farmer! Haha! Great though means spring is on it way!

I can't eat lamb, knowing that they were cute little sheep! :(|)

We saw on the news last night that lambs are being born and if they aren't up and around within a quick period time in this cold weather, then they could die from the hypothermia.

I used to think that lambs were born in the Spring ... i.e. March time. But is this a sign of the changing climate ... lambs in January?! rolleyes:)

Well, it's not stopped raining or blowing since yesterday but the little mites are still alive! They look very sorry for themselves though. It does seem far too early, but then I'm no farmer either.

If I had sheep I think I'd be tempted to build them a nice little shelter - probably a good thing that I'm not a farmer as I'd never make any money!

Lambs have been getting born around about this area in Janurary for a pretty long time! What our farmers do though, is they keep the ewes in until they've given birth and the little bubbas are up on their feet. And then they get to live outside in the cold!

However, sheeps wool...the wetter it gets the warmer they are!

Thanks for that Susie - I've only lived in this part of Scotland for just over a year, and it seemed alot earlier than other places that I've lived.

The farmer came by just before it got dark, rounded up the lambs and their mothers into his trailer, and drove off. Hopefully they've been booked into a nice 5 star barn, with hot water bottles and lots of hay to eat!
