New c&c/sewing machine/fleece

So this is a post with a bit of everything in it..

Firstly, now honey is much more recovered, I figured a change of the c&c wouldn't stress her now.. so here's the result! IMG_0965.webp
(The lights will only be on during daylight hours but my light bulbs in my room need changing and so it looks darker on there than it is 😂)

Spent today making a new cage liner with my new fleece I purchased the other day, everutally I'm going to make a whole set including cuddle cups etc.. however, my sewing machine has broken, anyone savy on a sewing machine? I was seeing a pee pad and then all of a sudden it stopped stitching, all the thread just clumps up behind the bobbin. Ive re-thread it multiple times and had a look, but it's just not working, no settings have been changed and it stopped working whilst I was sewing? Help if you can 😭😭


Thirdly.... today I was made aware that some people use this type of fleece...IMG_0966.webp
(The fuzzy stuff) rather than polar fleece. I got kindda excited about this because Ive seen so many cute fleece like this and put them back thinking they couldn't be used and that they had to be polar 😪 But how many others use this type of fleece and do they find it better or worse than polar fleece?

Your cage looks amazing! Loving the lights around it!

Whenever i have used shiny fleece it doesnt wick water away... always gone back to bog standard, try it though you never know.....

Thank you! The lights are from Primark, only £1!
I thought I'd read about t doing this before but a different thread a couple people said they prefer it to polar, I'll maybe do some more research on it! Thank you :)

Maybe just worth trying and seeing...

Ah Primarko! You do get a bargain from there at times
 
With regards to your machine.. I am no expert but have you taken all the gubbins out underneath the bobbin? Make sure it's clean and never use cheap thread- it always mashes up in my machine! Hope u get it up and running soon.. I have used shiny fleece and it's been ok but I use a mixture of the two types in the cage..

I don't even know how to do this😂 Maybe I'll have a look around in the manual to figure that one out 😂

I have used the fluffy wuffy fleece (thats a technical term) and it has soaked in the wee just fine. It makes a heck of a mess when cutting it though!

Do you wick it exactly the same way as polar fleece?

Where you put your bobbin in.. you can usually see if anything is tangled in there.. check out You Tube- easier to watch someone do it than follow a manual!

Ohh yeah there was tangling, but I removed this, tried again after rethreading it and it happened again there (it was like behind the bobbin almost under the needle plate, if that makes sense) and then it also clumps up behind the fabric... they're amazing things when they work but when something isn't right they need a genius to work the bloody things 😂😭
 
You might need to defluff your machine. You get loads shed off fleece. You should be able to take the little plate off under your presser foot and you need to take out the bobbin case and have a good old poke about with tiny little bottle brush type thing that probably came with your machine. Also, if in doubt, change your needle.

I have a love hate relationship with my sewing machine! When it works It’s great, but when it jams like that I want to throw it through the window! I’ve found that if I use any thread but gutterman on both top and bottom it mashes up. Have you tried using a foot for knitted material, that is supposed to help with chunky fabric, not that I have got one. My machine is an old Singer 636 passed down from family. Good luck, they are infuriating!

same here regards Gutterman - tried cheap thread and always get issues !
