I have just brought a new cage for the girls on ebay for 99p I am well chuffed it is mint condition, was a bit dirty on the inside but nothing that a bit of elbow grease couldn't shift. The girls love it and they look tiny all over again bless themx)

had forgotten how quick they are when you want to get a pic

Well done on your bargain buy :)

However by the looks of your picture that's a ferplast 100 - which for two guinea pigs is too small unfortunately :(

Your girls do look quite young, so it may be ok for a couple of months, but you'll definitely want to upgrade their cage at some point. The minimum size for two guinea pigs is 120cmx60cm - however that is the bare minimum and they benefit from as much space as you give them, with guinea pigs bigger is better...

Better keep your eyes out for a bigger cage ;)

they are very tiny at the moment. bummer thought the cage would have been fine... there was one on there that was two levels but something is nagging the back of my mind that those cages are no good for guineas?
cant do CC cages as i have to hooligan jack Russells so nothing flimsy has to be up high and sturdy. well I will have till winter as the girls will be out by day and in by night so i have plenty of time to keep my beady eye out.

That's a great bargain :). Your girls are very cute too :)

Ive got a double 140 corner cage for two of my boys - all i did was add some wooden sides to the ramp (to ensure they didn't fall when coming up/down it) and stuck some carpet to it for grip.

a 120 double cage would be fine for two girls - if you wanted to add more piggies though a double 120 cage wouldnt be big enough - any additional levels are not counted towards the overall floor space. I personally didn't think a 120 cage was big enough for two pigs, but that's just me being picky.

Zooplus do a 120 sized cage for less than £40 delivered (and there are usually some voucher codes floating around so could be even cheaper) - definitely one to bookmark for when your girls are bigger and you are ready to upgrade:

What total cuties! Beautiful cage, a real steal for 99p, congrats! x

Just thought i’d add that when it comes to your piggy cage the minimum for two piggies is 7.5 square foot, however the recommended is 10.5 square foot.

However my boys were in a 100cm cage while they were young and it didn’t effect them, maybe as they grow you could upgrade the cage you have or maybe try something new ! Your girls are gorgeous, and that cage was a fab bargain! :)

If you could keep your eyes open for another ferplast 100 or even a ferplast 80 -you could join the two cages together very easily (ive done it with both 140 and 150 cages) :) and your girls would have oodles of space! No need to upgrade...

How did you join them Sodapops?

With my 140's i just put them side by side (to make a cage 280cm's long) and removed the side panels where the two cages met. I then used ramps to join the two together (so the ramps were a triangular shape - and because they were only the height of the cage base i didn't need sides and all my piggies used them with ease). The 150's were much easier because they have an upper platform complete with ramps - again i put them side by side, and removed the side panels where the two cages met, the mezzanine levels were fixed in to each cage so they sit next to one another and then i covered the whole upper platform with vinyl flooring (so it's one long upper level with a ramp either side to get in to each cage) - i hope those descriptions make sense.

When it came to changing the cages and selling my 140's i just put the side panels back on and the cages were as good as new - same goes for the 150's - just replace the side panels and they are back to normal ;)

Great bargain but it will as others have said become too small. My long haired pair live in a Ferplast 120 which I have a stand for. I have also added a second level made of grids which the girls love. There is a stand for the 140 as well.

Piggybaker: it's a lovely cage and you'll get several months out of it. You'll be able to gauge from their behaviour when it's the right time to consider up sizing as sows tend to bicker and snap at each other if they are short of space.
It's 3x the size of a dwarf hamster cage that I saw being advertised as "an adequate size for a guinea pig" on an auction site the other day, and is considerably bigger than a cavie 80-which is what some pet shops would try and sell you as a starter cage for two small pigs. You're doing right by them for the time being so don't panic xx

It's always good to get a bargain. :)

Sodapops: Can I ask how your two cages are supported when you open up the fronts for cleaning out etc? I have a 120 & a 100 end to end which is fine until I want to clean out and then I have to use a bit of wood to prop up the unsupported front bits which is a bit of a pain and the rest wobbles somewhat. :))

I never needed to support the cages - the 150 cages have pull down front doors, and i have a double corner cage sat on top of the cages (1 either end), of course if we wobble it or was to lean on it, it would become unstable, but otherwise i dont think they need supporting.

The 140 cages wobbled a little - but i did cable tie the two joining ends - so maybe that helped slightly. But looking at the 140 cages they do have a center opening door unlike the 120's whereby the whole front opens up - so maybe that's where the problem is? Are you using the cage clips and corner supports? I have seen people use cut down metal broom handles (they come in all colors) for upper level supports in C&C cages.....

I did this with my 2 ferplast 120s and joined both together in an L shape, and added a log bridge ramp so they can get into both areas. It is always an option for the future.

Like others have said whilst they're still small the cage should be okay, and joining another cage is likely to be a cheaper option for you if you have the space. If you do just decide to upgrade to a bigger cage in the future, you could always keep your current cage as a hospital cage (if needs be)
