New Cage

Our gals have a cage, but it's too small, so we're thinking of making one for them. I've seen pictures of cages made with Storage cubes. Has anyone done this? And if so, any tips on how to do it or where to buy? I'm also not sure what to line the bottom with to keep their feetsies safe. Corrugated plastic, I guess. not sure where I'd get that, though. Any ideas? Would a thick blanket and then their pine bedding work?

I got my storage cube grids from Bed Bath & Beyond. You can also find them at Walmart, Kmart, Amazon, Costco (seasonal). I've also seen some on Craigslist.

For coroplast, try local sign stores. I got mine from a distributor. See if they have a location near you.

You can also use free political signs or store ads.

And you'll need a pack of cable ties, I find the grids and connectors alone not strong enough.
 
I forgot to say, don't get them at Target. Target grids have larger spacing and will be too big. Guinea pigs can get caught in larger spacing grids and suffocate.

When you're not sure about the grid size, open the pack and count the spacing. It should be 9 by 9 across.
 
Thanks a ton. I plan on making it multi level because we only have so much space width wise. What would you suggest using for ramps? Is just a strip of the plastic okay?
