I'm pretty sure my girls haven't had fruit before. Or certain veggies. I've been giving them various veggies everyday, using the excellent guide on this forum as to how much of each type and so far they've eaten everything I have offered them.

Now they are well settled I wanted to introduce fruit to their diet, just once a week.

Today I offered them raspberries and strawberries. At first they were very unsure but in the end they ate all the strawberries but left the raspberries.

Next week I will try them on some melon.

Should I try raspberries again or is it that they just don't like them? I don't really want to waste them. I love raspberries!

My two love raspberries but their absolute favourite is red apple as they were not so fond of tart fruits to start with. They are not big fruit lovers even now but they love strawberry, raspberry, seedless grape, red apple and banana skin. I would try them on some apple and see if they like it.

Piggies tend to be picky. Once they dislike a food there is no going back.... Fruit as you have said is a treat and it can be nice to pop it in ever other week or so. You will find melon is a hit. Especially Watermelon, it is the only food that one of our girls would eat post operation and all our girls like it from time to time.
Never tried Raspberry or strawberry as paranoid over seeds getting stuck in teeth. Grape was loved by our first two piggies also

Mine are a particular fan of melon Not given them watermelon though. They enjoy seedless grapes, blueberries, apples and pears too. Not tried strawberries or raspberries.

Mine aren't very keen on most fruit - I've tried a little bit of strawberry and apple in with their veggies, but they only got eaten when the veggies were gone, and they actually prefer strawberry leaves to the fruit. They LOVE watermelon though.

I can't wait to try them on melon. Sounds like they should love it.

I've just been letting them try everything (veg) I can buy locally and also stuff that I like to eat. Blueberries are easy to get so I'll definitely try them soon.

Because I used to have Panda the rabbit and also used to keep bearded dragons, I'm got into the habit of keeping the fruit and veg in the house well stocked up and it keeps me healthy too

Mine like blueberries, blackberries and apple. They've eaten banana but it wouldn't be their first choice, same for grapes. Never tried strawberries because I'm allergic, and I don't like raspberries much so I'd rather not risk wasting them.

But don't ever get between Blitzen and his blueberries. The stink eye alone is terrifying.

Mine didn't eat blueberries ( ahhh don't tell Eddi @Swissgreys ).... or strawberries but have enjoyed melon/watermelon & apple as a treat - given them watermelon when it's been really hot!

Didn't like blueberries?:yikes: @artcasper What is going on!:lol!: Mine like them almost as much as Blitzen @Lorcan.

I had them both out for laptime one day and I didn't realise the lady with Comet was feeding him a couple of blueberries. I realised, when I noticed Blitzen was staring at the other two very, very intently. He only stopped once he got his share. Those little berries are better than gold dust as far as he's concerned.

Dennis does prefer apple to blueberries though. If there is a piece of apple in with the fruit/veg mix he always gets to that first before the other 4 and runs off with it and hides usually in the carrot cottage so that he can chomp it in piece. Woe betide anyone who comes in after - they get a nip that says 'go away' but not so politely as that!

I bought a pack of sliced watermelon today, for myself but the piggies went mad when they smelled it (I was eating it while sat next to them on the sofa) so I had to let them try some. Wow! They loved it. They all scoffed it down and now have red stained chins

I need pics of their chins! So cute!

On the fruit front my guys favorites are Banana and Watermelon. They will eat others when they want, but go mad for their faves!
