picked up the girl piggy from the vets today. She didn't have a name, so I have named her Lucy - this is the one which the vet nurse owners dog got hold of - you can see various large patches around her body, the wounds have healed, but the hair hasn't grown back yet - I just cant believe how small she is! She's one year and only weighs 1.11 lbs - my babies who are only five and a bit months are around 1.15 or just over and I cant believe the size difference - Lucy is the small breed of mine, but different colours. Asked the owner what she was feeding her, and she said just grass, maybe that's why she's so small? only gives her dry food and hay in Winter - very strange...anyway have put her in her new cage (alone) and put dried grass and hay and a small bowl of dry food - gave her a nice home grown leaf of cabbage and it was gone in less than 5 minutes! Anyway will post some pics when I can and I'll show you her patches of fur missing...

aww poor babe cant wait to see pics, she sounds like such a sweetheart. Cant believe they were not giving her any dry food or hay! ::)

I've put her in the run for an hour, so I'll take some pics of her when I put her back...well they said they do in the winter feed her hay. She's eating right into a carrot at the moment, bless her! I stil cant believe how small she is - mark my other half said "yeah but you spoil your piggies so that's why they are probably much bigger" probably true, but I'm sure in a week or so, eating veg every day and dry food, she'll put on a little weight.

I'm sure she'll fill out for you. Nice to hear she's gone to such a lovely home, she sounds like she needs to be treated like a little princess for a while. Is she living seperate to your other piggies? Are you going to introduce them?

shes living in her own cage for the time being - when I can I am going to introduce her to Louis - he's always bullied the boys so has lived on his own - hes just had the chop - though they met in the runs opposite together - Louis was going nuts!

Little lucy is gorgeous! :smitten: :smitten:
Poor little leg though :'(
Bet louis cant wait to get a closer look at her! :smitten: i'm sure i can hear wedding bells.....

yeah she is lovely, but poor leg - though give it a few weeks and the hair should grow over.

Louis was popcorning and running around the run like mad and then biting the run to get to her though she didn't do a thing!

Lol! sounds like my Dermot, When i first introduced him to his lady Alice she hated him and he was crazy about her. I split them up an hour or so after they had been introduced so i could pop out for a few mins and he went crazy! charging about the cage and squeling at the top of his lungs! Luckily Alice decided he was'nt so bad after all!

i find the male are much more mad than the girls - especially Louis and cose he lives on his own - when I put Lucy in her cage, and then got her out - he was squeking like a mad man and sounded like he was whisling really loud too! suppose all the males want to do is make babies with the females so they go nuts when they can smell girls in the area! randy things..

he he! yup. Dermot is neutered too but he still chases poor alice around every now and then and tries to mount her! :embarassed:

you would think a vet nurse would know more about what to feed piggies :o :o :o so glad lucy has a happy forever home with you even if it means having louis squeaking and chasing her for the rest of her days ;D ;D ;D hoping after quarentine everything goes well for these two :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you would also think a vet nurse would know a dog could kill a piggy and be more vigilant(sp) :o :o :o hugs and healing vibes for sweet lucky :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

thanks Choloe - I can never put my pictures straight on here for some reason!

I was having another look at those bald patches and she has more than I thought :( do you think it's possible that it could be scurvy, Vitamin C defency? when you look at the bald patches you can't see any old bite wounds, so I am wondering if this is maybe the problem?

I am sure that Lucy has come to a home that will really spoil her!

Well done for taking her in and looking after her. She looks a real sweetie and will love you lots in return! :smitten:

we have not had Lucy 2 weeks yet, but those patches she had on her body, well the hair is growing back - I didn't think she would grow her hair back sooo quick...I was wondiering if it was Vitamnin C defency she had unless she was stressed out from the dog chasing her, but i am so happy that her fur is starting to grow back - maybe its just because she's eating the correct food, hay, dry food and veg everyday which is helping, seeing as she only used to eat grass and then dry food in the winter!

Blackberry had a baldpatch on her leg sometime back for like no reason, but that was when I wasnt using ivermectin and I believe it was mites,

but she is very yummy ;D

Hi love i was just wondering how this little girlie was :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
