Hi! I'm (hopefully) going to get another guinea pig in about a month! I am soo excited that Hammy will get a friend!
The only thing that I'm concerned about is...
Hammy has been alone for a while now, Will it be okay to introduce a new guinea pig if Hammy hasn't ever met one before? (she probably has when she was a baby, but she hasn't seen another guinea pig for a long time.)
I'm just scared that she'll freak out, and not want to share her cage. She's (once again hopefully) enjoying her life, but I don't know if she is ready. I don't want her to freak out and think that I love the new guinea pig more than her.

Thank You So Much!

She's likely going to love having a new companion :) it's how guinea pigs are wired, it's how they work. More or less human love doesn't come into it, I promise. Best of luck with the new introductions!

Also, Hammy is nearly full grown, so would it be ok to introduce a new BABY guinea pig to an adult one?
Thanks!

Yes I don't think it matters about age too much. If things get too much for the little one offer a hidey that only the baby can get into that way they can have a break. I would have another read at the behaviour and bonding advice on here.

Yes absolutely! Daisy had been kept on her own when I got her and she loved being with her new friends. She was on her own for around 4-6 weeks after Isobels passing too and again she has adored having company again
