Hi everyone

So i am a new piggy owner and have got a group of 5 girls from a breeder. they are a mix of ages between 12 weeks and 14 weeks. I have had them for a week now and they seem to be settling in ok some will now take veggies from my hand a little and others are still sussing me out. i sit with them every night for about 20 mins talking to them. i have not yet tried to stroke them or pick them up as i dont want to scare them and want to build the trust. i have one piggy (rosie) who is staying out the way and in a hidey on her own most of the time and i worry about her- do you think she is just shy? i have 2(panda and rouge) who seem to be a bit more submissive(although one of them did try hump harmony) and make some super high pitched noises when sheba is growling at them or nudging them out the hut- i dont think she is biting. i also have harmony who seems to have a face off with sheba and they growl at each other and sometimes lunge but no biting and sheba seems to back down and start squeaking. does this seem like normal behaviour for a week? when will it settle down? How do i know if they like each other? i have read lots of posts but it is usually based on 2 piggys or boars and i have 5 sows who i got all at the same time. i just dont want any of them to get hurt if I'm missing anything. any help is apriciated.

thanks everyone

I found those guides very helpful when I bonded 2 pairs of sows.
I have a 6 month old who is still very shy but is very slowly coming out of her shell.
That means she doesn’t dive for cover every time I try to talk to her.
You are doing things right but every pig has a different character and it’s so lovely watching them and getting to know each one.
Please let us see pictures of your herd.

Thank you for your reply, its hard to be patient when all I want to do is cuddle them haha. I think because it sounds quite loud and frantic it can be scary and I don't want any of them to be hurt. And I feel sorry for panda as she seems to be the bottom piggy and is always getting nudges or rumble strutted at but she backs off and squeeks into submission and they leave her be. I just worry they won't all be friends.

What a beautiful group of piggies.
Bonding a herd is more stressful for us than the piggies I have learned from recent experience.
If it helps the 2 of mine who caused me most anxiety and frantic posts on the forum are now becoming good friends and are well on the way to being partners in mischief.
Good luck with your gorgeous herd

That's good to hear! Thank you for your help. It's so helpful to hear what they are doing is quite normal. There all happy munching hay at the moment with a few of them are lying down x
