Hi again, I'm one of the new guys to guinea pigs. I just got two of my own today and I'm very excited and anxious. Problem is I dont know if the breathing fast is happening because they are scared or because of health issues. I just got them and I would like to know if I need to visit a vet or if it's normal thanks20190919_182704.jpg

P.S. How do I get them used to me? they always huddle in a corner and are too scared to be near me. I haven't seen them move or squeak and I'm worried I did something wrong (also this cage is temporary until I make them a new one)

I am sure your guinea pigs are fine, but just very nervous of their new surroundings.
The best thing you can do for them right now is to cover at least half of their cage with a towel or blanket, and pop in several boxes with doors cut into them so they have somewhere to hide.

New guinea pigs need time to adjust and it is not natural for them to be out in the open.

Hi, I did give them some cover, like a cloth draped over the cage. But it does lack coverage so I'll do a little more, thanks

Also should I leave my guinea pigs alone for a day to get them comfortable? (besides checking in feed and water)

With new piggies I always give them a week to settle.
I feed them and talk to them but let them settle in their own time.
It took my Phoebe nearly 6 months before she stopped running for cover - now she’s very confident and trusting.

Time and patience are essential.
Your piggies are gorgeous

I also forgot a major thing. My neighbor hasn't been doing it for a while and I completely forgot but he uses a power saw a lot, and I mean throughout the day sometimes. Occasionally he'll stop like for a week but it varies. Anyways will my guinea pigs hate this sound or eventually get used to it?

They will get used to it over time.
One of my kids plays the trumpet, and these days the guinea pigs don't even get out of their beds when she starts.
But the timer on my phone still scars them witless every time
