Hi! I recently bought a guinea pig about 2 weeks ago and everything has been fine up until now. I noticed while petting Bee that she has a dryness spot on her ear and a little scab below her other ear. I’ll get her checked out just incase but won’t be able to till this upcoming friday, payday. Any help will be greatful ); as I'm really worried, ive had a guinea pig die recently and wouldn’t want the same for this little girl. As for her behavior it seems normal from what ive noticed, eating and drinking and playing around, no scratching. I notice her wiggle her ears and there might be an ear infection. is there anything i can give her now to help?

We are not able to diagnose anything so she definitely needs to see a vet. It could be a scab from a bite from another piggy or it could be mites or a fungal infection (ringworm, which is highly contagious).
There is nothing you can do yourself prior to seeing a vet as if it is ringworm as she would need prescription medication to treat it.
Please don’t treat her with anything in the meantime for an undiagnosed issue. Any medications that you can buy off the shelf in pet shops are at best ineffective and at worst potentially dangerous as it delays you getting veterinary help and can mask symptoms, making the problem harder to diagnose and treat.

Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

I agree that she definitely needs to see a vet for formal diagnosis and the correct treatment. Please don’t just buy something over the counter as it may not be the right stuff and the strength will almost certainly not be enough.

please do have a read of the ringworm guide, as if it is ringworm then you need to take preventive measures to protect yourself as it can spread to humans.

Looks more like a fungal infection to me. Definitely calls for a vets trip to properly diagnose and appropriate strength treatment

hi so i got back from the vet and the vet wasnt so sure what it could be but he diagnosed her with ring worm and prescribed fungal cream, it has athletes foot written on the box and i want to ask if this is safe to put on her from your knowledge? I'm kinda worried about putting it on her and the appointment was expensive so I'm not very happy about it

What’s the name of the medicine?

Usually fungal cream for athlete's foot is safe but I'm not 100% sure. As siikibam says can you let us know the name of what you have been asked to use
