Hi all. I've had my Guinea pig for a little over a week. I have a Guinea pig at home but I put up a divider in the cage to let them get to know each other. At first she was eating everything and now nothing or very little. She is pooping and drinking but not moving around much at all. What should I do about this! I'm frightened

Is it possible that she is eating, but just not when you're not around? New pigs tend to be scared, I know my last few pigs never ate a thing in front of me for weeks, but the food disappeared over night.

If she looks ill, like feels bloated or her hair is puffed up, or her eyes are crusty or closed then she'll need to go to the vet as it could be bloat.

Does she look ill?

No she doesn't look ill but just Dort of stays in one place all day in her little log home. I saw her drinking earlier and was eating grass but not much. How do I cure bloat?

UPDATE. I gave her some food from a dropper and that did the trick. Now healthy and happy.

If your guinea pig appears swollen and the stomach appears distended (a light tap on the side sounds hollow), see a vet immediately. Your guinea pig may have an intestinal blockage (torsion) and/or a dangerous build-up of gas. Bloat is extremely painful. This condition can be fatal if left untreated.
