I just got two female guinea pigs and there are both very skittish. I have a 4x2 cage with a level and ramp. I just got them and I know I should leave them alone but they aren’t drinking there water. They like to hide together under the ramp so I put a blanket hanging over to give them more privacy. They will only eat hay when no ones around, but won’t eat and veggies. I have a water bowl and a bottle but they won’t go near either. I would soak there veggies in water but there not eating them😞.

Please don’t worry. This is very normal for new piggies.

Ensure their hay is readily available (its their main source of food) so they don’t have to come out if they don’t want to. Veggies need to be introduced slowly anyway if they are young and you don’t know what veg they have previously been used to (you don’t want to overdo veg and cause a tummy upset).

They will come out drink when they feel safe enough (piggies drink the amount they need and the amount varies hugely from piggy to piggy anyway). Cover the entire cage and leave them to settle in.
