You should leave them in the bonding pen for as long as possible so they can sort out the early stages of setting up their relationship. The longer they are in the bonding pen the better really as a change in territory (ie going to the cage) is a new environment and can cause further dominance.

If they are still in the bonding pen, then there should not be any hides or houses in there.

If they are now in the cage, then it’s fine to put two exit houses in there and the younger ones following the older ones is entirely normal. What do you mean he is getting annoyed - what is he doing that makes you think that?
It will take them two weeks to sort out their relationship and you are going to see a lot of behaviours during this time

Ok, thank you! I didnt add any thing to the bonding pen besides hay and water. I put them in their cage since they both really wanted to leave and were biting on the cage. To answer your question he was rumble strutting everytime the little one followed him into the same tunnel as him, and the little one kept on waking him up. When i first put them in the cage i saw alot of dominance but for the past few hours theyve been sleeping next to each other! They keep on waking up every so often and going back to sleep. Its going alot better now. Its the middle of the night so ive set up a video camera with the volume up and check up on them every once in a while and listen for any noises that they make. I'm really happy with how the bonding is going so far! Thanks so much everyone for all the help :D

rumbling is a normal behaviour, nothing to worry about. It’s something boars do all the time - my almost 4 year old boar pair love nothing more than rumbling at each other or inanimate objects!

They certainly look very cosy together in the picture!

Theyre going well, thanks for asking! Theres barely any dominance (their is a little but not much) and theyre always next to each other. Ive atached a picture from where i found them this morning! Thanks so much for all the help.

Great news.
It will take a couple of weeks for them to be fully bonded but you can relax now as bonding seems to be a success.
I recommend coffee & chocolate to relax with

The timeframe may vary. It took almost a month for my boys to get ride of the bonding jitters. However, my case was a bit different. I was told they were bonded and Mocha was my dominant pig. Cappucchino overtook Mocha’s dominance role.

Can happen with a change of environment (rescued & large cage change).

2 weeks is the norm but I can say my boys have been pretty settled the last two weeks. All of October was a scary mess for me as I never witnessed dominance coupled with role changes.

AWWW! That's made my Friday! I'm so pleased that at his age he's managed to find a real friend/companion to live with for the rest of his life! I have 7, 6 sows and one neutered male abd even they don't share hideys! Such a special bond! Keep us updated with more pictures! Your older boy just looks so happy 💞

Me to! They both seem to really like eachother :) wow thats alot of guinea pigs! I will! And yes i think he is very happy:D
