Hi everyone :)

today I have just brought home my two New Guinea pigs, they are about 1-2 years old. Their previous owner kept them in a shed so I think they’ll be more than fine in my flat. I guess I’m just looking for a bit of reassurance?

the temperature of my room is currently 16.2 degrees but it is freezing outside as this room is usually warmer than that.

I have provided them with lots of hay to keep warm and hidey places that they can settle in.
My main concern is really just the temperature!
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I personally use 18.3 degrees to 23.8 degrees. It is a little cold but as long as it doesn't go below around 18 degrees you should be good. Maybe grab a plug in heater if you have one? just to make sure the temperature always stays the same?

16.2 degrees C is fine for furry pigs, as long as they have some hidey houses and hay.
15-25 is the acceptable temp range for piggies generally, but avoid any sudden temperature changes! If they are used to an outdoor shed a cool indoor temp is better for them initially, a sudden warm room after living outdoors could be a big shock to the system and quite dangerous!

This isnt good advice @wafflesandcosmopiggies to suggest suddenly heating up piggies who have lived outdoors in a shed, that could be fatal. The piggies will be fine at 16 degrees, and any further warming should be gradual and consistent- if the room gets colder at night for example overheating during the day should be avoided.

I wasn't suggesting to heat them up I was saying to make sure that the temperature stays the same using the heater. That way there isn't a sudden temp change :)

That's ok @wafflesandcosmopiggies but please try avoid spamming up the threads by replying to your own replies- we arent facebook or snapchat, works a bit differently here- I think @Lady Kelly sent you our forum guides and rules yesterday anyway :)

Fleecy snuggle sacks and microwaveable heat pads that the piggies can choose to use (especially if the temperature drops a bit overnight) are a good addition too.
