I've recently bought two guinea pigs (my first ones!), and they're eating plenty, but I'm really worried that I haven't seen them drink anything yet. It's been 4 days, and the water in the bottle does not seem to have gone down at all.

I tried putting a bowl of water in their cage for them, but it just got clogged up with sawdust, and they didn't go near it. They mainly stay in their house when I'm about at the moment because they're still shy, but I'm worried they'll get ill if they don't drink.

Is it possible that they don't know where the water bottle is? Or are too nervous? Or that they drink very little?

Help please! :S

Its very likely that they are nervous of their new surroundings, its a scary world out there for a guinea pig. :) Give them time, try offering very small amounts (as not to upset any tums) of water veg such as cucumber, this will help keep their hydration levels up. Some piggies dont drink much were as others will drink more. Dont worry too much at the moment. You may find that one day they will suddenly start to drink. Are they young?

Mine hardly drink anything. Sometimes the water bottle is as full when I go to change it as when I put it in

When i first got gizmo he didnt drink for a loooong time but then eventually he did they just getting use to surroundings like someone else mentioned =)

its possible they dont know where it is. Mine drink like ..well PIGS. (and eat like pigs too). But what I did was when I first got them..I held them up to thier bottle, and I smeared cucumber juice all over the end of the nozzle thing. They started licking it off..and then it was like..OH so this is where the water comes from. Now..they drink at least three or four times in one hour.
