Hi I recently lost one of my guinea pigs which left a 2 year old female alone, I recently adopted 2 more female guinea pigs looking for a home and I couldn't say no. The introduction went well and there was popcorning and good sounds, followed by grooming. They are all in the hutch together now and there is a lot of rumble strutting and chasing is this normal? How do I know if my pigs will get along or is this OK? Advice needed please.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m sorry your recent loss.

It can take up to 2 weeks for the hierarchy to be properly established. Have a read through the guides above. Hopefully everything will settle down soon.

Sounds normal to me. It takes a couple of weeks for everything to settle down. The guides linked above explain the behaviours you are seeing.

Hello and welcome.

I’m sorry for your loss.

As above, they will be in a period of establishing their bond for around two weeks.

Did you thoroughly clean the hutch before you put them all in it?
As you now have three piggies, is the hutch definitely big enough (a 6ft hutch)?

Hi yes, the hutch was throughly cleaned, scrubbed and safely disinfected. I'm waiting on a new hutch to be delivered as the top bit isn't quite big enough its a 5ft hutch, we do have an indoor run aswell so they get the exercise and run around the house. But thanks for the advice.
