Hi everyone!

New to this guinea pig forum so hope I'm doing this right! Got 2 young boy piggies yesterday, one is 10 weeks the other 12. I've only had 2 girls before and I'm really surprised at how different in behaviour they are, my girls were very mild but these 2 are a bit lively! They keep
Scrapping, I've read this is normal but I'm feeling a bit sorry for the younger one as he keeps curling up & snoozing after the fights & the other one won't let him in their little house! He is very timid when I hold him. I hope this will
Sort they will sort it out soon, any advice? Would really appreciate some reassurance! x

Sounds as if they are sorting out who is boss rolleyes
Keep a close eye on them though as if they fight, separation is the only route to go. Not all piggies like each other but the usual dominance from one is normal and generally settles.
Make sure they have plenty of space as boys are territorial and give them two dishes, hidey's etc. if you haven't already done so. Hidey's are better with two exits so one can't get cornered and possibly bullied by the other.
My boys (two pairs of brothers) have large pens with an upstairs level and rarely spend time together...
Mistakes people make are lack of room for them so bigger is better :)

Hi and welcome!

Boars are more territorial than girls and need to establish their dominance in any new territory. They also go through a much more pronounced hormonal phase between 4-14 months of age, and need as much space as you can provide because of that!

Here is our boar guide with further good quality links; you may find it helpful: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=76162

We also have loads of information on all other aspects of guinea pig life; you may like to have look at the different sections for new ideas! Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

Thank You very much for your advice & I'll be sure to check out the links & ask any more questions! I do think they will need more space so looks like I'm shopping at the weekend! x

My boys are going through the hormones at the mo. So far there's been no fighting, fingers crossed it continues! The thing that helped the most was having 2 houses as they have their own space and a house that belongs to them :)
