Hi everyone! Got my new girls Katniss and Primrose a week ago. They are still quite nervous and usually run when they see me, although Primrose is much braver. I'm considering moving their cage as it's in the hallway at the moment and apart from us moving from room to room occasionally they don't see us as much. The only other option is the living room but I'm worried about the noise of the TV etc. Is it better to keep them somewhere quieter till they're more settled or should I put them where there is lots of company and more noise so they get used to it? The living room is better lit too.

The other thing is that they both dislike leaving the house at the moment and I don't want to stop them coming out (when we aren't in the hall they do sneak out). Or will they get used to it anyway with time? Let them out for their first run time today and they both refused to leave the house I put in the run with them.

Thanks,
Kate

Yeh I've read that several times. I was asking for cage location advice really.

We have ours in the living area and have had a cage there since we have had piggies. I don't think the noise is a problem and they do get used to it. I think it would work for you from what you say. I'm sure over time your new girls will also venture out even when you are in the room. Ours do still flee quickly though at sudden movement like us getting up!

Thanks. They are in the living room now and I can see the change already! They are much more confident to come out and explore, and Primrose has been popcorning all over the place and running round :)

mine live downstairs for three/four months of the year, the first couple of weeks they are skittish but they soon remember and regular snacks of veg and hay help them adapt. The rest of the time they are upstairs either in the spare room or mostly my room. I'd prefer to keep them down stairs as they would get more interaction but that is one of the joys of renting!
