I got one guniea pig two weeks ago and decided to get another today so he would have a friend they are both male and I am letting them roam around my room to get use to each other but my guniea pig i have already had keeps trying to hump my new guniea pig. They dont fight or bite eachother gilbert just likes to humb gandolf. Is this how male guinea pigs show dominance?

@Wiebke. I think your are correct, I don't really know much about dominance and behaviour at all. But it looks like you have nothing to worry about right now. what size cage will you be keeping them in? You will need a minimum of 140 x60cm or else they can end up fighting then

That’s all normal behaviour. They have to establish dominance and one way of doing that is humping.

Just make sure that their cage is minimum 150cm x 80cm. Have two of everything (bowls, bottles etc), and only hides with two exits.

How old are they? I’ll link some threads below for you to read. We’d love to see some pigtures!:wel:

Right now I have a smaller cage but I am getting a bigger one the first of the month. I let them roam around my apartment durring the day while I am home so they are not cooped up in the cage all day

lovely boys, glad to here you are giving them “roam time“ X
