Don't know who gets more excited when my OH fetches the new hale bay from the Equestrian supplier - me or the piggies :(|) Found myself doing a little happy dance when he pulled up in the van and hoisted it into the house mallethead
I just put a single duvet cover over one end and turn it over...ta dah...smells beautiful and is lovely and green, the pigs love it :x
Manic nomming going on still apart from the few piggies who've plonked with full bellies ;)

I never thought of doing that with a hay bale, i have always been put off because of the mess...... this has got me thinking though thanks!

xx

OMG you have just solved my hay through the house problem and so simple too!

Funnily enough I have just posted in food about hay joy! JINX! ;)

Hee hee, mess free house but my daughter wasn't amused that I had sneakily used her covers grrrr Had to buy her two replacements :x

Do you find the room it is kept in smells though? and how easy is it to grab a handful off a bale? xx

I love new bales they smell divine, picking one up at the weekend and expect to hear a lot of wheeks when I bring it in :)) I don't find it any harder to get hay out of a bale then a tightly packed bag of compressed :)

We keep ours in the conservatory, it's tied so snip the cords to allow it to 'fall' and is easy to grab handfuls out with minimal mess :)
It makes the conservatory and kitchen smell lovely - only thing I discovered in the heatwave we had was that the hay was a little more 'brittle' because of the heat. I keep the open end of the cover tied to stop any crawlies getting in ;)
I could never go back to the stuff in bags now as someone pointed out it could have been stored for a year before we buy it so smells musty :( - we pay £5 per bale and lasts 20 piggies 3-4 weeks :)
Maybe try half a bale for starters and see how you go :))

Genius idea Trace!

Love the idea of your piggie plonked down with full bellies drool x
