Hi guys, I don't know if this is allowed, so please please slap me on the wrist and kick me up the bum if it isn't!

Buuuut..... Given all the hay posts on here, Jo and I have been thinking....

We can source some absolutely beautiful meadow hay, grown locally to us (and I believe it is organically grown too) and we were wondering if any of you guys would be interested in using us as a supplier?
We can send it in 2kg sections for £5.50, that would be easy to store.

Is this something that would be of interest to any of you?

I would like to try some as my guinea pigs seem to fed up of the same hay daily and appear to like a change now and again. So another flavour may help. Shall I pm

I have just sent a Pay Pal payment of for £11.00 for two lots and replied to your PM with details. Looking forward to them trying fresh hay.

Wish I could fly over there and grab some hay :D! Mine has got mites in it :vom::td:

Oh what a bummer @cavy clicker :-(
I don't know how farming works in NZ, I have roots in sheep farming, so know a bit about the animal side of farming over with you, but not the arable side, is it difficult to get hold of hay? x

How expensive if your hay @cavy clicker & @AlbiePercy ?
Do you tend to source your hay on line? It must be a real pain to get hold of it!

If you are in rural Oz Albie, is it an option to grow some of your own? I know you would need a large area to grow all your own, but a patch the size of a sofa could yield quite a bit :-) x

Oh wonderful! So pleased the guys approve!
There has been bedlam in our house tonight, I was 10 minutes late with hay time - 3 sets of noses, and 3 VERY load voices complaining loudly through the bars! Peace has now resumed, only the tv and the sound of contented chewing is heard! lol!

It is beautiful hay isn't it, beware when you get to the end of the bag and there are the little bits, you may have a scrap - all 3 of ours get hopelessly excited by the end of the bag! It must be tastier somehow! x

Its not difficult to find hay, but really good quality hay is hard to find.

I'm with you @cavy clicker Hay is soooo expensive here and it's not the best quality :( I live in rural Australia, so there's not a lot of options!

Yeah I'm so disappointed because the farmer lives two blocks away from us and is a lovely guy. Its just his growing bird population. Every time we go up there, there are more chickens and heaps more ducks

The farmer I got it from charged $5 per bale which is very good. He's really nice and even let me have a free bale last Christmas!

Oh that's sweet Cavy Clicker :-) Maybe you could ask him for a bale from lower down his pile so that the birds haven't pooped directly on it, and then when you go to use each slice, put it in one of those vacuum bags and suck all the air out of it so that it sucks off/kills the mites before you use it for the piggies?

Like these....
Buy Packmate

I was hoping that I could find a spray that kills mites but is not harmful to guinea pigs or hay! Mites spread everywhere so I'm not sure that I should risk it ;)I've just called my vet for some more Ivermec, I'll dose them again after I've disinfected the cage and changed the hay. If I can find more hay

Well if you suffocated the mites that would kill them, although I'm fairly sure that hay mites aren't harmful to piggies?
If you are anywhere near any patches of long grass, you can cut that down, dry it in the sun for 24/48 hours (keep turning to allow all bits to dry!) and then you have some hay at least x

I pay $15 for 2kg. No option of growing my own unfortunately, we live in a rental townhouse inside the 'city'.
