Boots Mommy

Hello Everyone
Samantha here I am officially Boot's Mom. We got him/her yesterday. Boots so far hasn't eaten or drank? Scared still? Also how can i tell age and sex i tried to look saw the "y" gently pressed but nothing really came out? Oh and there was another piggie with him/her in the store should i have taken him/her too? Or can we just have Boots?

Thank you all for reading and helping

Piccies of Boot's bits will help to sex him/her. Guinea's prefer to have a friend or 2, Welcome to the forum. :)

If nothing popped out its likely to be a girl but i'd put a picture up to be on the safe side. If you can i'd get another piggy to keep him/her company. I have 6 piggies at the moment. xx

WELCOME :)

personally i think all guinea pigs should be either bonded as a pair or in threes but pairs would be best ;) Go and get Boots friend :smitten:

Also depends on what sex Boots is before you go and get the other one if you do O0

Boots may need time to settle in and that may be a reason she/he hasnt been eating/drinking :)
Boots may have ate/drank something whilst your not watching too ;)

Firstly id find out what sex your Boots is then go back to the store and see what sex that one is if its still there - if so then personally id get him/her to bond together again if not then rescue one O0

Piccies would be great :smitten:

I would urge you to get your piggy a friend from a reputable rescue as there are so many homeless ones without buying one from a pet shop. Don't assume that if you're told by the store that the piggy is a particular sex that it is that sex as so many are notoriously bad at sexing animals.

After looking at that website with the pictures Thank you for that! I believe that Boots is a female. The store is very annoying and said that when the piggie b/c sexual age having two isn't good. I'm adding pictures. Is the house a decent size for Boots. The store said they thought Boots to be around 8 weeks. Could I put another one in until I am amble to build a new crate and financially?

Oh shes soooo sweet :smitten: Does look very small though :) The cage however looks fab O0

the cage looks ok for her while she's little, you'll need a bigger one for 2, I don't see any hay? Hay is a really important part of a guineas diet O0

Gorgeous piggy :smitten:

Before buying Boots a friend be 100% sure your little girl is actually a girl, you wouldnt want a litter from a sow at such a young age.

Yes I was going to echo what GPQ said, ensure Boots is a female and the friend is also female. If you go to a rescue center they can guarentee the sex whereas pet shops are usually wrong resulting in unwanted litters. Sounds like the shop you got her from knows *beep* all anyway.
The cage is small for 2. And yes she should have tons of hay to hide/sleep in/eat.

If you post a pic of her 'bits' (excuse the wording ;D) we can probably confirm if she's really female. She's gorgeous by the way and nice to see she has a house and tube. Is she on carefresh? ?

I just added a heap of Hay. I was cuddling earlier with Boots. Is there ever to much or to little holding by me while when my kids are around they just pet no holding yet as I'm not comfortable with that.

Anyone know of resue groups in New York?

Welcome to the forum. :) She is lovely! I took my boys to a vet to check on their sex. He never charged me either. :)

A cage will need to be 4x2 for 2 pigs. :)

Good luck finding a friend. :)

I was looking around on ebay on the c&c cages Could I get one 27 inches by 50 inches and have two and be okay? Or do I really need to have a 2x4. Also were do you all have your piggies? Right now Boots is in our kitchen but If I have to get a larger cage I will have to put on the floor in the playroom as I have no where else to put it. :-\

Mine are in my shed O0 dont no the answer to the c&c question :-\

Mine are in the shed now as well, draft and damp free. :)

Minimum in inches is 48x24 12 inches in a foot. :)

outside is not an option here as I am in a duplex and share the backyard. But besides that there are alot of stray cats in the area. So inside is were I guess BOOTS will stay ;)
