View attachment 12916 View attachment 12915 View attachment 12914 Today I bought a ferplast 140 for my girls. They have been popcorning away and love the space. Have now retired to their bedrooms that my hubby made. Need separate bedrooms otherwise Truffle does not let Kola in.

I feel like such fool. I have seen those hay racks in the store and could never figure out how they work lol lol. I LOVE It! Do you like it? I have major hay drama and mess. I'm gonna get a few of those tomorrow. Yay adding hay from the outside seems so much better! Is it?!?

Very nice set up!

Does the hay still fall on the floor? Tell me no please lol.

We have these racks and yes they still get hay on the floor, as our lot love to pull out the hay. :lol!: but it's still better than spreading it all over the place..

Lol yay! I don't feel so bad now. :)

I don't care about them getting hay on the floor of the cage. I just hate when it gets on my floor, because then I find it EVERYWHERE!

Thanks so much!

I had a hay rack like this and found it did still let all the dust fall on the floor around the cage as the pigs pulled out hay it would just fall out a very small gap between the cage and the outside which was a pain and the but as hay was getting walked all around the house.
I made one of these.

The only thing i've found that actually keeps my hay 100% tidy!

I have a hay bag but one pig would
Crawl on top and get inside it. Maybe I will try to make one with a closed top somehow and holes not big enough for them to climb inside of. Hay is probably the thing I hate the most about having pigs! There HAS to be a way. :)

Thanks so much for the help. I am going to finish cleaning the house and then sit down and try and make one. Wish me luck!

I had that problem hence this little upgrade :) I just tried to take a picture of it to be easier to see but let me apologise first it needs a wash haha! It's also stuffed full to bursting as i was using the end of an old bag of hay up so i could throw it out. Also has very bad sewing on my part as this was my first 'trial one' in the future i plan on using thread that actually matches rather than having ghastly black lines all over the bag! But it does have a velcro top and having the black made it easier to see for tutorial puproses! :)

Does it close on top? Oh gotcha Velcro BRILLIANT! And none of the pigs crawl inside of the holes!? I like it. I am going to try something like it. Thank you sooooo much!

Yeah seals shut with the velcro so the piggies can't get in.
I started this bag with just two big rectangle holes like most but one pig kept running through the two holes and sitting in the bag, so i opened up the two holes and made this grid in front that they can only just get their noses through the gaps so no more hiding guineas.
Good luck hope it works out for you :)

The hay does not go on the floor as long as the bottom of the rack is sat well into the lip of the cage. Every couple of days I brush the bottom of the rack and cage lip to take out all the little bits of hay then the rack sits tightly in for the next refil. I fill it 4 times a day and have little mess on the floor.

I use the hay racks too with hardly any mess, like @Fishybat said as long as the bottom is in the lip of the cage no hay can escape! :)
