The latest issue of the Guinea Pig Magazine is coming out tomorrow!

GPM-31.webp

With an article from me about all forms of biting, nibbling, tweaking and nipping and what you can do about it, including tips on how to pick up and weigh a guinea pig without having to handle it! :)

Available at pets@home shops or in an online version worldwide via this link here: Guinea Pig Magazine

@Wiebke I'm not ignoring the fact that you've contributed, but the thing that jumped right out at me smacked me with great force in the face is the bit near the bottom reading 'What you need to know about Toxaemia in guinea pigs'. As Sunrise recently died of this I would be very interested in reading about it.
I'm off to purchase my copy :) x

Done :) Looking forward to reading yours too :)

Our Poppy Chick Chick became a biter and Wiebke showed Alison how to deal with this, now Poppy is a dream to cuddle.

I am very sorry that Sunrise died of it. It is rather rare, as is pregnancy toxaemia in well cared for sows. The medical articles in GPM are usually carefully researched.

And no, @Squidgypigs, you didn't sound patronising, but it is already a few years since I started dancing with deadlines... mostly with humorous aspects of piggy life illustrated by pictures of my Tribe.

Enjoy!

I am taking an extra issue with me tomorrow (as well as some back issues) when I date Tegan at the lady's who fostered my Nerys and Nia for the RSPCA Walsall 7 years ago, so she can see a few pics of her old girls. Nerys is still with me, coming up to 8 years old. There is a picture of the girls modelling a pick-up version in the new issue, as well as of Nerys' new companion Nesta. :)

It's a great magazine - and I like the way the banner at the top of the forum says " Forum makes crossover".

I'm 3/4 of the way through writing and article about my sow Bess - and I'm hoping this forum can encourage other members to put a short piece in Guinea Pig Magazine.

I have actually written the article at the same time for both the forum and the magazine, but the forum doesn't have printing deadlines! :D

But any forum member is welcome to send in their piggy pictures and stories to the magazine! The magazine uses real pics all the time; it is really made by readers for readers!

Just got today number 30 & 31 together in the mail! :yahoo:
Sadly I have to finish some homework so... I won't be able to read any of them today :td:

Believe it or not, I have two piggies who nip depending on mood; Moca is one & more regularly if you startle her with your hand, and (brace yourselves...) Gus! IF he is hiding in his house & you reach in for whatever reason, a "love nibble" is sent as a polite warning that, "...my alone time doesn't include your fingers, Momma!"
LOL

Weasel!

That looks like so much fun! I love it!

You can subscribe to the magazine either for a print version or a cheaper downloadable version that avoid the mail charges.
The website has got a browsing corner so you can get a bit of a flavour of what is in a issue before you commit.

:D I've been reading the mag since issue 1 and I love it ! Hope to get one of my girls on the cover one day!

You need a clear high resolution picture that is high format (instead of wide) with a preferably neutral background and preferably a good story to go with her... ;)

There is a Guinea Pig Magazine?!
How exciting.
We have a family member who likes to send the girls a magazine from the UK once a month, so I think I know what they will be requesting for their next one :-)
The magazine has readers all over the world so go for it!
