Hi, i havent kept guineas for nearly 10 years so am looking for advice as i know how much ideas and food etc change. is there anywhere i can get a full advice sheet on what they can and cant eat. i grow a lot of my own veg (all organic) so during the growing season there will be loads i can offer them, also hubby is a chef so will always have veg and fruit etc he can bring home.
what else do they need, obviously some kind of dried food and is hay just given as a food daily now, i believe they shouldnt be bedded on it?
all advice gratefully received
thanks

There is a section called the guinea pig shopping list in the permanent threads. this will give you a lot of the info you need

girls are now settled in, the pet shop people we got them from suggested we keep them on the same diet until they are 16 weeks old before we try changing it, should i be careful how much fruit and veg i give them cos they are young?

The most important part of their diet is hay....hay and lots of it! They can be bedded on good quality meadow hay if you like and put some in a rack too so it cant get weed on :) pet shop hay tends to be poorer quality, I now get mine from a farm and it is excellent but prior to that got it from www.dustfreehay.co.uk

A good variety of fresh veg is second most important. CCC4 has recently posted an excellent correct calcium : phosperous diet for guineas.

Pellet food is recommened now as opposed to a museli type as it prevents selective feeding. If introducing new food, do so slowly to prevent upset tummy. One new food at a time. Good luck ;)
