these were taken by the previous owner, we just brought her home past 10pm tonight and she seems to settle quite well:

keeping her quarantine for now, even though she seems perfectly healthy, but she needs some time to rest and settle down before we put her in with our 3 girls;
for an 8 months old (or so they say she's eight) is probably underweight? , only 514 grammes
This lass lived by herself and wasn't very well looked after. Hopefully, she'll get a long and happy life with us.

Aw I love how her brown stripes are arranged! Mother natures certainly work wonder! x)

She so cute! Congrats. And yes i do agree. Are those red markings on her fur or is it the lighting in the camera? I love her markings if that's her. Which I am sure it is!

So pretty. :(|)

what a beautiful piggie...!drool
ive never seen those markings and colour combo before...!
x)
be interested to see what kind of breed/breeds she is... :)
x

Gorgeous, love her stripes x)

thanks everyone! yes, the stripes are real and very colourful, it's not the camera flash :)
and eyes are bright red, too.

previous owner called her Ruby, but we've already got one Ruby :) now she's going to have to become Ruby The Second :) he-he

She's a lilac and gold english crested.

I've not got her in front of me, but from the photo, if she's 8 months old, I'm a chicken. She looks far too small.If she'd had babies and that had stunted her growth she could be smaller.

She came from Gumtree, I saw the ad. Good luck with your complete mystery that could be pregnant, ill, full of mites, or absolutely horrendous with other piggies. I hope you don't end up in the same mess as some of the other forum members have from their good intentions.

Aww she's a cutie.

It's advisable keeping her in quarantine for at least three weeks before you even consider introducing her to your piggies. I would also take her for a vet check-up first too. You don't want to risk infecting your girls with anything that she may be carrying, for example mites, fungal infections, etc.

thank you for the good words :) we appreciate it a lot, not many people these days wish good luck and it's important to warn people as they don't know what they might be dealing with, especially younger members of the forum (I'm in my 30s :) )
due to good luck we already have 3 gorgeous piggies, although you are right, it could be anything and that's why we are prepared for it financially and morally as with rehomed ones anywhere else other than rescue centres it's a lottery;

problems aren't an issue: we lost a boar in April after spending £1000 on treatments and 6 months sleepless nights, 4 vets, Vedra and Laura didn't get to the bottom of it, unfortunately as it was too late, he had thyroid cancer, but it was all worth it, they all deserve proper treatment: pregnant, ill, with mites and others - I'll spend all I have to to give them proper treatment and proper life and if they won't get along with my other piggies, fare enough, she'll be living in a separate room, we've got enough room for all poor creatures that have become our family as anyone we take is our responsibility and quite unfair many people thinks it's all fairytale ending when they rehome "lottery" as you correctly imply. As a person who's been through hell and fire in my life I know exactly what I'm getting myself into.

She is in "quarantine" in a separate cage at the moment and is going to get mites and all the preventative treatment, the medicines have been posted and are due to arrive tomorrow. My biggest comfort is during the course of treatment of our late boar we've found an amazing cavy savvy vet in London, so my pigs are safe.

Sorry it just bugs me a huge amount you would give a stranger money for their guinea pig, yet didn't see fit to donate to a rescue for a lovely healthy pig when there are so many needing homes.

I am part of a large Get Gumtree Animal Free group on Facebook as it is far too easy for people to buy a pet then flog it on there when they get bored, or breed without thinking through then selling it easy as you like on Gumtree. You have been on here advising people to look on Gumtree for animals before, so I think your 'it is important to warn people' is a slight double standard but there you go.

Here lies a totally new topic for discussion perhaps a new thread ref the gumtree business would be a good idea, apologies if you have done a thread recently but always worth re doing it as there are so many more new members. Piggyologist, congratulations on your new arrival she is quite a looker and safe with a loving owner who will pamper her big style by the sounds of it.

there already was a discussion about it somewhere: the forum doesn't encourage any free ads information. That's why I haven't mentioned where I got the piglet from when starting this thread, somebody else picked it up as they recognised the photos.

oh, and we did get this beauty for free, because the owner was so convinced she gave her away into good hands :) - cherry on our cake :(|)
