Awww, they sound adorable and a lot of fun. You normally find when you have a pair you have one who is more outgoing then the other, normally the one that isn't outgoing is fairly nervous. Have you tried broccoli? Mine love this and fresh greens, they can't get enough. O0

No not yet, I think I'll take another trip down to the fruit and veg shop on my dinner and buy some other bits and pieces. I dont think they'd been fed anything other than the dried food in the pet shop so it took them a while to realise they could actually the other things I was putting down for them! I never thought about brocolli though, I'll definitely get some of that and some cabbage maybe, is there any type in particular that would be better?

Thanks for the link, I hadn't came across it, but theres definitely alot of things to try in there!

I read that they should only be fed fresh fruit and veg 2-3 times a week, although on the link you sent it recommends a cup per pig a day. I'm a bit confused over which is true!

They should have a portion of fruit and/or veg per day at least. A portion being around a medium sized carrot per pig. Hope that makes sense. O0

Yeah it does thanks, I'd been putting a mixture of things in with their food in any case but was worried I was giving them too much fruit and veg, so as a general rule is it less fruit more veg?

Correct, make sure you take pay particular notice of the danger foods. O0

Well I've had a read through but I think I'll print a copy out to keep at home, wouldn't want to be giving them anything I shouldn't be.

Just been down the fruit and veg shop again and bought some more things so we'll see how impressed they are with this lot!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

vikki2203 I was curious whether you could actually put 2 boars together, I asked at the pet shop last night and the assistant there said that you shouldn't put two together which is why we opted for 2 females. Do yours get on well?

I used to keep guinea pigs when I was younger, and have wanted some for a long time. My boyfriend and I have recently bought a house so I could finally get some again :)

sorry only just read your post, my boars get on together exceptionally well, there the best of friends, they eat together and sleep together.

some boars get along, some don't, just as some sows will never get along.

:) Welcome to the forum :)

I have had 2 boars together and they were the best of friends.
I currently have 1 boar and he eats like a pig!, he loves his veggies.
Congratulations on your new arrivals.

Hi Steve - so glad we are getting some men on here

My OH wont come on here..he goes on cuty cavies and one with a blue background though.. :-\

I agree, although its a bit of a mothers meeting so i dont think a lot of guys would want to go there! ;D

Hi , I'm new to the forum too , I've 4 piggies , 2 sows Fizz & Abbigail & recently adopted 2 boars Marvin & Colin. The 2 girls were really for my son but having them has been really addictive & I'm besotted, much better pets than the hamsters my eldest son had years ago. (don't mean to offend any hamster lovers out there.)

Welcome to the forum, your guineas sound lovely. You probably have already guessed it but you aren't the only one who is addicted. ;D

Welcome to the forum both of you :D I have 4 boars, Teddy and Larry are brothers and live happily together and Timmy and Lennie have just had a big falling out so now live separately but next to eachother in c + c cages. I got mine from screwfix but they sent me the package with 2 packs short so they are sending me 4 packs by way of an apology :D
If you are anywhere near me I could help you out there as I don't need many more-I am in Surrey.

Hey! I'm new to the forum as well...te he he!

Have kept rabbits and guinea pigs all my life...love them to death!

I recently lost my guiena pig (who lived for 2 years after her friend passed) so am now waiting to go get my two new girls and am also looking for a boar at the moment. I have decided I am going to breed, which I am really looking forward to.

Anyways can't wait to get to know you guys!

Take care
All my love,
Cozmo
-x-

Welcome to the forum Cozmo. Just to let you know the forum is against breeding and many members would appreciate it if you didn't talk about it. Once again welcome to the forum. O0

No problem...I'll just direct that chatter to the Pregnancy & Labour part of the board. Thanks for the heads up 88)
