Hi guys, i'm a new mummy to 2 gorgeous boy piggys by the names of Bubble and Squeak.

I spotted them in a pet shop and they looked so sad so I had to bring them home. The same day I noticed Bubbles had a poorly foot that was seriously swollen and obviously deformed poor little thing.

He has been to the vets twice since we have had them (just over 8 days) and I am pleased to say his foot is no longer swollen and he is walking a lot better.

He weighed 800 grammes when the vet first saw him and was 840 today so is obviously a lot better off with us then at the pet shop.

The RSPCA were informed, but now I just want to take all the piggies home with me if we pass a pet shop.

Just wanted to say hi to you all!

Hi and welcome!

It is not rare at all that pet shop guinea pigs have health problems or are pregnant. Sadly, for each piggy you buy, another from a rodent farm will be shipped in. :{

I am glad to hear that your ill boy is getting better.

Thanks, I had 6 piggies up until early 2008 as my final piggy Missy passed away before my son was born and I missed them tremendously.

Bubbles has become so friendly and happy since he has been with us. The owner of the store told us he had been given them as the owner couldn't keep them any longer. He was onbviously in pain, but some anti-biotics and painkillers later and he is almost back on 4 feet.

Great news! Bubbles obviously knows when he has found a loving home!

I had a Missy (short for Mischief), too, at one point - she was one of my first adult piggies.
