Hi there - I am new here and very upset as our 4 year old Guinea Pig, Bubble, died yesterday afternoon, very suddenly and without any apparent cause.

She was very active and lived with another Guinea Pig (Female, her sister) and a Rabbit, who was her soulmate and friend.

My daughter, who is 8, went out to feed them at lunchtime and found her dead, lying in the corner of the run, with her eyes open. Do you think it is possible she had a heart attack? That is the only reasonable explanation I can give Lily, as she is distraught. There are no signs of diahorrea, sickness and she was healthy and had no lumps or bumps, or anything to cause concern.

Just wondered if any one else had experienced this? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, it does sound like something quick like a heart attack.

So sorry for your loss,

Louise

Hi, so sorry you lost Bubble, RIP little one 0:)

It does sound like either a heart attack or possibly a kick from the rabbit could do it. Piggies shouldnt live with rabbits as their hind legs can give a fatal kick albeit unintentionally :-\

Again, sorry for your loss :smitten:

Does sound like a heart attack and I do agree about the rabbit thing, even if they do get on. Rabbits can kick out and hurt piggies even kill them. I would suggest for now that you move the rabbit out away from the piggy remaining and introduce a new sow to her, that way you will avoid any mishaps in future. I also lost my piggy yesterday and cannot determine the cause as of yet. Sorry for your loss and I hope your other piggy will be fine!
