We recently got 2 male guinea pigs about a week a go and have noticed some markings on his back end and I’m unsure as to whether a vets trip is needed any help would be appreciated

Hello, welcome to the forum.

That looks like it could be fungal or mites, your piggy need the vet for a diagnosis

Whereabouts are you located?

Over in north wales(Wrexham) I have already looked at local vets briefly I’ll probably take him tomorrow...would it be worth taking the 2 of them they’re only 9weeks old roughly

Yes just to check out. Is it scurfy? I am thinking fungal by looks of photo a vet will be able to help. If there is one near you from off our list it is well worth using them.

Isnt that the grease gland. All my boars have it but this one looks a bit like something might be wrong

Welcome to the forum and your boars too. They are so handsome.
Hope the vet trip goes well.
Keep us posted

I agree that it looks like the grease gland that has got gunky.
Some boars have more prominent grease glands than others. Swarfega is good for removing excess grease build up in my experience.

Bloomin thing is at it already got a bit of a lump/mark on his nose...not dirt...

I’m assuming that the fungal infection on your piggie is ringworm? ringworm is often found on noses too. So it may be just that your piggie has the fungal infection in two areas.
