I brought home my first guinea pig, Pip-Squeak on Sunday. I've been giving her plenty of TLC and she's doing great, however, I just felt a pea sized bump behind her ear and a smaller one next to it. I swear I didn't feel it last night. I am very worried. It looks like it's some type of cyst and on the verge of popping. What should I do? I cannot take her to the vet today. I'm very concerned. It doesn't seem to hurt her. Is there anything I can do myself?

If she is eating and drinking normally then it can wait until tomorrow to go to the vet. Lumps are usually cysts (fairly harmless unless they burst and get infected) or abscesses which can grow very quickly out of nowhere. If you brought her from a pet shop please speak to them as you may be able to claim the vets costs back from them with her being ill so quickly

Welcome to the Forum.

It would help us a lot if you could let us know roughly where you live, so we can give you advice that is specific to your area/country.

Is she has a lump then she does need to see a vet, however if she came from a pet shop and the problem has arisen within the first couple of weeks then they are liable for any costs. Some pet shops will insist you see their own vet, so the best starting point would be to find out if this is the case for your girl.
Whatever vet you see make sure you keep all receipts, including the one proving when you bought her.

A good place to start for general piggy information is here:
