New Owner! Any tips?

Hey all! I am now the proud new owner of a male guinea pig, Pumpkin, and I was wondering if you guys and gals had any tips for me. I adopted him from the Humane Society in my area and just bought him a big new cage, igloo, and lots of toys. Unfortunatly they didnt have any non-wired bottom cages that were big enough, so i put a towel over the bottom of the cage. Anywho, I will try to post some pictures soon and hope to hear back from you guys, thanks!

Hi congrats on your new arrival. I would say this is a great forum for advice and tips. I would cover the bottom of the cage with some mdf or something as a towel may get pulled up or even line it with newspaper then the towel on top. I would also suggest getting him a cage mate as piggies like company maybe a young boar from a rescue I am sure there are plenty of people on here can recommend ages and how to introduce them if you do go ahead. Some people also put a teddy (no beans inside) in with their piggies for company. Pics would be great!
 
Welcome to the forum, as many said to me just a couple of weeks ago, prepare to get addicted.
