Junior Guinea Pig
Wonderful news! They both clearly found a lovely caring home!
browsing the forums for anyone with similar problems.... even with the surgery they only made it 8 days.... maybe a miracle of it can be pushed back inside but then i still gotta get surgery that she might not survive and if so it seems only a couple of weeks at best.... its really just too much money........ the chances are extremely slim. I'm gonna have to have her put down before work tomorrow.... i dont regret spending the 300 to have her boarded and given some pain killers. I'm sure she's feeling pretty good right now. gonna give her some treats and blue berries before i sign the paper work..... I'm gonna hear out the vet see what they can do but. ultimately i dont think anything is a good option. i'd be doing it for me then for her. it would cost me like 2-3 weeks pay. the less it costs the more risky the surgery. minimum would seem to be like 1100-1200... she says she would like to see what happens if she just cut it off stitched it and stuffed it back in... but anesteia and all that still gonna run me at least 1000 its where most of the money is.... right now I'm just gonna wait and see what tomorrow brings...Oh no I’m so sorry you are facing having to make this decision. Sending healing vibes and hugs. I hope something can be done.![]()
its ok.. i gotta go back to the vet in less then an hour... i gave her as much time on this earth as i could...I know zero about this, I'm sorry. I don't suppose you could just leave Caramilk as is for a day or two on pain meds, if she otherwise seems to be enjoying life? It's probably irresponsible of me even to suggest.
I saw your post earlier and now it occurs to me that the relevant members may not even have seen your post because not on a medical board.
@Freela is also in Canada and a Moderator
@Piggies&buns is in the UK as many forum mbrs are so probably not available yet but she responds to medical queries with the relevant experience and knowledge
Ditto @Wiebke so I hope one of them gets back to you within the next few hours.
I’m sorry. Sending you hugs. You gave her an amazing life. I remember when you found her.its ok.. i gotta go back to the vet in less then an hour... i gave her as much time on this earth as i could...
Vet came up with a reasonable estimate of $500 to try and save her. I'm going for it.... Wish her luckI’m sorry. Sending you hugs. You gave her an amazing life. I remember when you found her.![]()

I've got everything crossed...Should be happening right now. I'm at work. Gonna call in 2 hours see if she pulled through
I'm assuming you took ownership which is wonderful as all pigs need a good home. It's pretty simple really. Pellets, Timothy hay and fruits and veggies. Piggies can't make vitamin C so they need foods with it (apple, strawberry, blueberry orange) make sure you give fruits in moderate portions as tons of sugar is bad. As for veggies celery, kale, romaine lettuce, Brussel sprout, broccoli for example. Before feeding make sure you look up what they can and can't eat. Onions, potatoes, rhubarb are big no nosHey guys I recently FOUND a guinea pig in a local park. I'm in canada so it was basically a death sentence come winter (assuming something didn't get it before then.) so I captured it in a net and took it home. My gf already owns two rabbits so had food for it. been doing some research on line to find difference between the two care wise. So far seems they very similar but guinea pigs need more vitamine C. been feeding her pieces of melon i had at the time. Its super friendly and trusting. has NEVER tried to bite me even when i have to pick her up when she doesn't want to be to clean her cage. I've had it for about 4 days now. Any advice you guys can have would be Greatly appreciated
Btw her name is caramilkDP is her in the bush before being captured.
