Hi we have just got our first ever guinea pig and I'm having a confusing time with him he is a happy little guy and weak weaks a lot and seems happy now I hold him the most and recently when I am holding him he throws himself back into my hand and I rub his tummy and he seems to like it and weak weak again if I try to sit him back up he will throw himself back again and lift his front paws up and I'll rub his tummy again but while I do this his little mouth is moving while he weaks I'm confused if he's teeth chattering atall or if mouth moves when making noises any advice welcome thanks

Hi! It takes time and experience to read the combination of wheeks/body language. However, you can't miss teeth chattering; it is a sssss sound! it looks like your little boy is loving having his tummy rubbed. Your little boy is currently as his loudest and most vocal as he has got the range, but not the experience of an adult piggy, so he is at his most vulnerable to predators. Knowing where he is and what he is up is important for the survival of the piggy group as a whole.

Please consider getting your little a companion of the same sex; ideally one that is a bit older and that you can date for character compatibility/mutual liking. This is very important for the stability of any boar bond. The safest place is one of our recommended good standard rescues that we can guarantee for; they will introduce your little boy to suitable candidates at the rescue under expert supervision, so you come home only with another boar that has worked out. You also have the rescue to fall back on if there are problems of any kind during the whole life of their piggies. It is the lively interaction that makes guinea pigs so unique - and you will absolutely love seeing two boars popcorn and play together!

Hi thank you for your reply yet again today he kept throwing his head back and I was rubbing his tummy this tin he turned his head and starting groming his little foot at the front and washing his face I recon he is very relaxed just don't understand the teeth moving still feels a little confusing. I would love to get a second one but it was hard enough to get hubby to let the kids get one and he was the runt of his litter smallest snd had a bite on his side which is now Healing nicely thanks to the cream the breeder gave us but I'll see how he goes he has lots of attention I promise
