So I recently rescued 2 adult brothers from my local animal shelter. They are both 3 years old from the same litter, and have been together since birth according to the owner that recently surrendered them. When I first brought them home they were fine just skittish but now day 2 has rolled around and one of them keeps trying to mount the other. He keeps chasing him around and getting on top of him and the other male is not having it. Neither seems aggressive, just scared. Is this normal? Could it possibly be one trying to show dominance because its a new place? Should I separate them even though they've been together since birth?

BTW, the cage setup I have is bigger its 9.5 square feet. I also have 2 separate hides.

Hello and welcome to the forum. The change of scenery and enclosure means that they are just re-establishing the hierarchy between them.

I wouldn't separate them unless there is a full blown fight with blood drawn. However, please make sure that all hideys have 2 entrances so that no-one gets trapped. Cardboard boxes with doors cut in, log tunnels or plastic stools work well for this purpose.
