My guinea pigs don't want to eat their new pellets (it's more like granules I think). I tried to mix them with the old ones but they only eat the old pellets. They just sniff the pellets and don't try to eat them (I have to admit, those pellets have really strong smell). I bought a big pack and now I don't know what to do with them. 😔
This is the brand I am talking about:
PP8041-1.webp
What should I do? Should I let them be and maybe they'll get use to them or I have to buy them only the old pellets?

Since how long are u giving them the new pellets? Sometimes piggies take time to adjust something new and don't eat it at first but starts eating it eventually in few days as I have heard

I’ve just looked up the ingredients of this food and it isn’t good for guinea pigs anyway. I wouldn’t feed it all. It contains seeds and cereals - these things are bad for piggies. They should be fed a grass/hay based pellet.

What were the pellets you were originally giving them?

U ll not believe me! When I got my piggies rescued from a bad pet shop I knew nothing about them and just asked the owner what do they eat. The owner gave me the most bad pellets made just out of chickpeas which had a guinea pig photo on the pack and said just this. I was confused so I asked him again nothing else and he said nothing else except these pellets lol so I came home and checked on internet and basically threw those ugly pellets away lol why does pet shops do that just to sell their products

I bought them today and I was reading some reviews about them and some people say that their piggies like to eat them. I know it's not a good brand but I've run out of old pellets and they didn't have them at pet store and I had to think quickly about what to buy 😩

I wouldn’t give them at all. Just feed them hay and a few veggies until you can get a better brand of grass based pellet. That will be absolutely fine to do that. Pellets are only supplementary to the diet in any event so not having them for a few days won’t hurt them. They should only be having one tablespoon of of pellets per day anyway
What pellet do you normally give them?

This brand and they love them so much. They always squeak for them 😅. I hope this drastic change in their diet for a few days will not hurt them. They are always expecting to get these pellets. Also what should I do with those new pellets? I cannot just throw it in trash. That will be waste of my money 😅

It would not hurt them to not get pellets for a few days until you can get some more versele-laga. Pellets are not essential to the guinea pig diet anyway. Not having any would not hurt them. Their daily diet should be made up of
at least 80% hay in any event.

If you wish to feed them the beaphar pellets, then it is your choice. We can only advise that they are not a good pellet and their ingredients are not good for them. I personally would choose to not feed the beaphar to my piggies and I would throw them away, but it has to be your decision.

I agree the beaphar is not an aporopriate food for guinea pigs, personally if I ever end up with wheat and seed based foods that some well meaning relative buys for the piggies, I put them outside for the garden birds, so they dont go to waste- many garden birds would appreciate the extra calories during the winter x
