I've just got in touch with my local guinea pig rescue, becklen guinea pig rescue up here in Cumbria. They have two 6 week boars that are a potential buddy for my Dylan! I've saw pics of both and they are little sweethearts

I'm just waiting on them getting back in touch, I'm not sure how it'll work, do I just take a baby home with me and start the bonding process at home?

Whatever happens, I'm pleased to give another rescue piggie a home and get Dylan the company he needs :)

Dating generally happens at the rescue or a foster's home under expert supervision, so you take your boy with you to be introduced to a new friend there. If things go well, you come back home with both boys. Otherwise, your boy meets the other little boy after a suitable interval to see whether they gel better. That way, you won't come home with a piggy that doesn't get on. ;)

Please be aware that with youngsters there is a small chance that the initially very smooth introduction can fail about 2 weeks into the bargain at the end of the dominance phase - but then you have the rescue to fall back on in case this happens! Most bondings go very well, however.

I thought it happened like that, at least then it's neutral ground!

Is this when I keep all the boars that don't get on with Dylan and just end up with loads of c and c cages in my spare room?!

You can hire some blinkers for the trip...

But I know how hard it is to leave other piggies back at the rescue!

I got babies from becklen but the lady that does Carlisle end came to.me as she lives five minutes away.Good luck, mine are amazing

I'm going to look at them on Friday! Perfect timing really as I'm off work for 10 days so I can keep an eye on things. :)
