So I got my new guinea pig today (Bonnie) and I've put her cage and my other guinea pig's cage next to each other, and they sometimes bite on the bars whilst facing each other (almost kissing lol). Is this a normal way of bonding

Hello, So Before you put the Guinea Pigs together or close to each other you need to Quarantine your new Pig. To make sure she is not carrying any infections or anything.

@Wiebke may have more ideas

Hi how old is the newest addition? If she is only little and very young you are able to bond straight away or if you feel you know she is healthy. It's only slightly older piggies or ones who have come from backgrounds that might have gotten ring worm etc that require quarantining. I for example didn't quarantine Steve when I bought him home as he was 5/6 weeks and needed the company.

She's 4 months

Thanks, also, when I do bond them, how long shall I keep them in the neutral space for?
We kept ours in for 12 hours depends on how the bonding is going,.
